Does your wooden floor need new life?
When the floor needs to be freshened up, the most commonly used solution is a floor sanding. There is rarely a need to plan the floor, which also corrodes more on the floor than a floor sanding. When we sand your floor, we sand about one millimeter of the surface, which is not much – however, it is enough to make the floor ready for treatment. Here we use varnish, lye, oil or paint, depending on what type of floor you have – and what you want, of course.
When does my floor need sanding?
When the varnish on your wooden floor is worn through or has many visible scratches, sanding is necessary. For example, if you have a large dog, you should probably expect to sand a little more often, as the dog’s claws will often leave their mark on the wooden floor.
The same, one might say, applies to smaller children who have a tendency to lose things that make marks in the floor. These scratches are often easy to see, but fortunately also easy to get rid of again. It can be done with a Gulvafslibning. This applies no matter what quality the floor has, and whether it has been treated with oil, soap or varnish.
On the other hand, you can subsequently decide for yourself which surface treatment the floor should have. There are pros and cons to all treatments, but it is also very much a matter of what you prefer. If you are in doubt, we can always help you choose the right solution and explain to you about the different types of finishing.
Floor sanding gives beautiful floors
Once the floor has been sanded, it is not quite straightforward to redo it if the result has not been as desired. We are aware of this and that is why we are very careful when we work. We have sanded many floors over time, and therefore we gradually know how to do it.
Our customers must always have a good experience when they use our service – and of course beautiful floors. Therefore, experience is a must, as it requires both a good eye and technical ingenuity to solve.
How is floor sanding done?
We always start by doing a rough sanding of the floor. We do this to remove residues from previous finishing and to correct any irregularities that may be. That way, the floor gets the same, unidirectional surface everywhere.
Once this is done, we perform a fine sanding that gives a smoother surface and a nicer result in the end. Then the floor is ready to be finished with the material you want. Of course, we advise you on the various options, so you end up with exactly the floor you want. At the same time, of course, we also make sure that you are aware of what you need to be aware of in relation to the chosen finishing.
Can you sand your floors yourself?
The very short answer is that you can, of course. However, unless you are absolutely sure what you are doing, it can quickly become a much more expensive solution. The machines used to sand floors require a lot of experience if they are to be used properly. If you have first made damage to the floor, it can be difficult to repair, and it will therefore in most cases be the best solution to hire a professional floor sander with experience for the task.
