Your tax return is being processed or is being verified?: what does it mean?
A review of the states that the procedure can go through after its presentation
After making the 2021 Income Statement, whose term extends from April 6 to June 30, this important procedure will go through various stages before obtaining the final result : to pay (in which case the required amount will have to be provided within the stipulated period) or to return (situation in which the Treasury will reinstate part of the amount paid to the taxpayer).
But while the Tax Agency checks each of the declarations received, the status of the refund will be updated and its situation can be checked through the Tax Agency’s website. The duration of this process depends on multiple factors and these are the different messages that may appear during it:
“Your statement is being processed” . It will be the first thing we will see after submitting the 2021 Income Tax return . It means that it has been received correctly but that its verification has not yet started.
“Your statement is being checked” . Once the technicians begin to review our statement, the status will show the new situation and it will be less and less to get the final result.
If there is any type of problem with the shipment, this will be reflected with the message “The declaration with the indicated amount has not been recorded or is in process. Check the amount”.
Last minute tips for filing your income tax return
If, on the other hand, it has already been accepted and the refund is in process, the situation will be shown through the notification “Your return has been processed by the Tax Management bodies, estimating the refund requested by you”.
When the order to execute the refund has already been issued, the process will have concluded and the status will read “Your refund has been issued on day X/X/XXXX; if you have not received the amount in 10 days, go to the delegation/administration of the Tax Agency corresponding to their fiscal domicile”.
Help to the taxpayer: when do they return the balance in favor
By official provision, the return of the balance in favor must be in the following 40 days or before, after having presented the annual declarations , regardless of whether you are a Natural or Legal Person. However, in this time of emergency caused by COVID-19, the Taxpayer Defense Attorney’s Office (Prodecon) joined the SAT effort to do so within 3 days.
It would be interesting to chat with those taxpayers who have already complied in order to find out if the return meets that deadline. Especially considering what was said by the Deputy Attorney General for Prodecon functions, who ensures that to operate within a period of 3 days there is a requirement:
- The return request will enter through an automatic return process; provided that at the time of submitting the annual declaration, the interested party has accepted the proposal offered by the authority in the corresponding section.
This means that if the proposal is not accepted and income is modified or deductions that are not preloaded in the system are increased, it enters a normal system of returns where the authority may require information for the process to be carried out. , which translates into a period of 40 days.
On the other hand, if the system finds irregularities in the fiscal year, the return status of the balance in favor will appear as “in process” at the time of requesting the return.
Important! If the balance in favor appears rejected, go to Prodecon so that they can provide you with the necessary advice with a complaint procedure.
